Serge Obolensky served on the Tam in 1983 as the Independent Duty Corpsman.
"I was transferred on to the Tam literally overnight. The previous Corpsman had been medevac'ed off her, after supposedly he climbed the A Frame and wouldn't come down. To say he was not popular with the crew would be an understatement. Needless to say, they were less than thrilled to see another corpsman. Things were pretty chilly until one of the Boatswain Mate Chief's fillings popped out when we were out at sea. He was in a bit of pain. I put in a temporary until we got into Key West and word soon percolated around the ship that "Doc" was OK."
